Mr Christopher Munn
Mr Christopher Munn is an American from the state of Indiana. He has a bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education from Indiana University and a master’s degree in Educational Technology from Michigan State University. Before coming to Yew Wah in 2011, he mentored college students in the US and Shanghai and organised events and programmes for their development.
At YWIES Shanghai (Upper Secondary), he taught English and Social Studies. He was the Head of the Social Studies Department for several years. He also became the Head of the Character Department, in which he organised school-wide activities, improved lesson content, and oversaw teacher instruction and assessment. He also led the Technology Committee, which sought to improve technology infrastructure and the use of technology in enhancing students’ learning. He advised the Model United Nations Club for four years and led groups of students to eight MUN conferences throughout China. He also coached the basketball team.
Mr Munn enjoys spending time with his wife and four children as well as reading and playing sports. He has lived in Shanghai for eight years and is conversational in Mandarin. With his experience leading Chinese students both in the US and Shanghai, he believes that education is one of the best ways to build bridges between these two countries and cultures. As one of the pioneering Executive Co-Principals at YWIES Shanghai Lingang, he is excited to help develop an international education school that brings together the best of the East and the West to prepare local Chinese students to build a better world.
