YWIES Shanghai Lingang welcomes boarding or day local students worldwide. Applications for admission to primary and lower secondary (Grade 1 to Grade 9) are accepted.

YWIES Shanghai Lingang upholds a non-discrimination policy and accepts applications from all qualified students.

For 2026/2027 Academic Year Applicants:

• Grade 1: Six years old (Date of Birth: From 1 September 2019 to 31 August 2020)
• Grade 6: Grade 5 graduates who meet the requirements for lower secondary in Shanghai
• Grade 10: Eligible applicants for high school admission include: current Grade 9 students (graduating this year) who meet the requirements for Zhongkao System, and former lower secondary graduates under 18.
• For other grades: Students are required to meet the age requirement of the school registry

For 2026/2027 Academic Year Applicants:

We have limited places available in primary and secondary. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information.

• Grade 1: 40 students
• Grade 6: 53 students
• Grade 10: 50 students
• For other grades, limited places are still available

• Local Shanghai citizens
• Non-local students who have a Shanghai Residence Permit and either of their parents holds a valid Shanghai Permanent Residence Permit with valid social insurance payment for over six months from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025; or either parent has a flexible employment registration with the government for three consecutive years (from the starting date until 30 June 2025)
• Students with foreign/overseas passports (including Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR or Taiwan Region)

According to the admissions policy of Shanghai Education Commission, all Grade 1 and Grade 6 students must apply either via the Shanghai online service platform (zwdt.sh.gov.cn) or the Shanghai compulsory enrolment system (https://shrxbm.edu.sh.gov.cn).

Please apply online or download the Student Application Form and submit the following documents to our Admissions Office in person, or by mail or fax. The Admissions Office will get in touch with you upon receipt of your completed application package.

• Photocopy of the student's residence card, birth certificate, Shanghai Permanent, ID card or passport with a valid visa stamp;
• Photocopy of the parent's/guardian's residence card, Shanghai Permanent, ID card or passport with a valid visa;
• Photocopy of the Growth Record of primary and secondary students (only applicable to students who apply for lower secondary);
• Photocopy of the student's latest school academic reports/records;
• Three passport-sized photos of the student (with the ID/passport name of the student neatly printed on the back of each photo).

Note: Please provide the originals of the above materials for our verification during the placement interview.

• There is no streaming of classes, elite classes or experimental classes of any sort.
• We do not organise registration or disguised registration.
• We do not arrange entry tests, assessments, interviews or surveys.
• We do not accept any kind of specially-made resumes and certificates from students.
• The school’s enrolment is not linked to any educational training institutions.
