As the semester draws to a close, the CCA programme at YWIES Shanghai Lingang has once again illuminated our campus with remarkable achievements and students' extraordinary growth. This semester, 40-50 diverse courses across academics, arts and sports unfolded daily like constellations, providing every student with opportunities to explore passions and push boundaries.

Let’s take a moment to reflect on this semester’s journey and witness how our students have unlocked their potential through diverse courses, writing their own extraordinary stories!

    ACADEMICS

This semester, in our academic CCAs, students immersed themselves in the vast ocean of knowledge, growing confidently and unlocking their potential in their chosen fields. The courses spanned a diverse range, including the Model Airplane, Chinese Calligraphy, Discovery Education STEM Mystery Science, English Creative Writing, English Storytelling, Artificial Intelligence, the World Scholars Cup, and more.

Meanwhile, students also participated in comprehensive Academic Support Programmes, including Language Training, Chemistry Practicals and Competitions,Economics Revision and Examination,CUGO Oriented Activities,Science Homework Club,Psychology AS Remedial,Physics Competition Support and IG2-AS Practical Biology, and more—achieving holistic self-improvement.

What we witnessed was not merely an expansion of knowledge, but a transcendence of intellectual boundaries—children excelling in their fields of strength and flourishing in the pursuits they love.

    SPORTS

This year, students thrived in our varied sports programmes, discovering athletic passions and achieving measurable growth in physical wellness through dedicated practice.

Ball sports have remained a cornerstone of our school's sports programme this year, with students enthusiastically participating in football, rugby, table tennis, and both men's and women's volleyball and basketball - showcasing their talents while revelling in competitive play. The children enjoyed tremendously exciting experiences through this year's water sports activities.

Besides swimming, outdoor activities such as kayaking, rowing, and paddleboarding courses are also very popular among kids.

In kayaking and paddleboarding programmes, children glide freely across the water, developing balance and core strength while connecting with nature and discovering the thrill of water sports.

Through rowing programmes, they not only strengthen teamwork and coordination but also build endurance and resilience.

This academic year, we’ve expanded our sports programme to include unique offerings such as equestrian, fencing, archery tag, karate, fitness qigong, frisbee, and functional fitness training.

These diverse sports programmes not only help students gain health and happiness through physical activity, but also foster their team spirit and resilience. In their favourite sports, children continuously challenge themselves and push their limits.

    ARTS

This year, art has blossomed in our students' lives, enriching campus culture with its unique beauty.Courses such as poetry and painting, illustration and comic books, arts & crafts, and acrylic portrait painting have empowered children to depict their inner worlds with brushes, nurturing their aesthetic sensibility and creative thinking.Activities like fun crafts, origami, and flower arranging allow children to experience firsthand how art intertwines with everyday life through hands-on practice.

Music programmes such as string orchestra, jazz dance, ballet, beginner violin classes, hand drumming, drum kit, and rock band provide children with a platform to showcase their musical talents, letting them soar freely in the world of music.

The most highly anticipated events are the drama rehearsals and the annual musical. This year, YWIES Lingang students will present their original play A Blaze in the Wild, alongside the officially licensed by Disney of Frozen, taking the stage on June 28!After months of dedicated rehearsals, we are confident that our young performers will shine their brightest under the spotlight! Moreover, traditional cultural courses such as tea art, embroidery, and Go (Weiqi) have not only enriched the children’s knowledge but also allowed them to quietly appreciate the profound depth of Chinese heritage.

These artistic activities have not only enriched the children's extracurricular lives but have also subtly enhanced their artistic appreciation and aesthetic sensibility, while sparking their creativity and imagination.

The YWIES Shanghai Lingang CCA programme remains committed to building a platform of possibilities for student growth. Through diverse activities, children discover their passions, continuously challenge themselves, and gain both personal development and confidence as their talents flourish.

Going beyond traditional classroom boundaries, we witness self-motivated explorers using curiosity as their compass, shining brightly on their paths of holistic development. This is the CCA program's most precious gift to students: the vision to discover their passions, the courage to pursue excellence, and the capacity for lifelong learning.
