    Congratulations!

Ms Sherry Xie, one of our secondary teachers and coordinator, has been named a regional winner for East Asia in the Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards.

The Cambridge Dedicated Teacher Awards recognize outstanding educators worldwide who have made exceptional contributions to education, demonstrated dedication, and inspired their students. Nominations opened in February, receiving over 5,000 submissions from 101 countries globally.

I was honored to be shortlisted as the top candidate from East Asia and ultimately selected as the regional winner.  The regional winners were chosen by a distinguished panel of judges, including current educators, education specialists, authors, and representatives from the University of Cambridge and Cambridge University Press & Assessment.

Ms Sherry Xie said that this is not only a personal achievement, but more importantly, a reflection of the excellence of our school. This award is a recognition of the collaborative efforts, culture of support, and shared commitment to education that defines our school community.

    Nomination story

Ms Sherry Xie is an exemplary teacher who embodies dedication and passion in her teaching approach. Last year, Yun noticed that some of her Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives students were struggling to grasp the complexities of Global Perspectives and critical thinking skills required for their projects. Instead of simply assigning more reading or exercises, Yun decided to take a more innovative approach. She organized a series of interactive workshops that simulated real-world scenarios relevant to their coursework. For one workshop, she invited guest speakers from various professions, including journalists, and environmental scientists to discuss current global issues. This not only provided students with diverse perspectives but also allowed them to engage directly with experts, asking questions and gaining insights beyond their textbooks. Yun’s ability to connect classroom learning with real-world applications sparked a newfound interest in her students, making the subject matter come alive.

Among the shortlisted candidates in East Asia were teachers from some of the most prestigious international schools in China, including Harrow, Ulink, SUIS, Fettes, and others across cities like Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Wuhan.

    Congratulations to Sherry!
