    • On April 1, 2016, Yew Wah Lingang held a successful sports day with over 97 students participating in the day’s events as a competitor or a helper. The event is designed to build school spirit and a sense of community through our house system, featuring the Red Phoenix, Yellow Tigers, Blue Horse and Green Dragons. The competition was friendly and competitive while the cheering and support for the competitors was exceptional throughout the day, no doubt spurred on by their houses, teachers, school principals, staff and parents.

Despite an overcast start to the competition, it turned out to be a clear and sunny day. The day produced some excellent performances, which served as indicators of the high level of competitive spirit exhibited by our students.

The day had 87 medals to be won. The competition was fierce. The day started out with a pentathlon competition in which all students took part. The competition consisted of four groups (junior boys, junior girls, senior boys and senior girls) in a 1km race, high jump, long jump, javelin and finished off with a 200m race. In the afternoon we had 400m race followed by 60m race which ended off the day with relays. A special mention to the following students who were the best male and female athletes on the day; Liu Diou (Leo) and Ye Jin (Jessica). Congratulations!

The house competition was incredibly close but there can only be one winner that was Green Dragons who edged Red Phoenix by 12 point on the day.

A special thanks to all the teachers for running the events so smoothly, and the student’s helpers for assisting the teachers.
