At the beginning of 2020, the students in the Residence Hall of YWIES Shanghai Lingang welcomed the Chinese New Year celebration with a banquet. The theme of this year's celebration was "Yew Wah’s Celebration of the Mouse Year –- the First of the Chinese Zodiac". When you walked into the banquet hall, you were overwhelmed by the pleasant sea of Chinese red, all students and teachers in traditional Chinese festival costumes. The classic Chinese poetry surrounded you.
Pass On the Traditional Culture by Wearing the Traditional Chinese Costume
The opening performance of martial arts and dance was performed by the Primary school children, bringing the New Year's joy to the whole room. Next, the hilarious crosstalk and Han Chinese costumes added a touch of humour and ancient poetic flavour. The colorful Chinese culture was vividly presented by Yew Wah students.
During the dinner, even Minnie and Mickey Mouse came to give out red envelopes and the mouse dolls of the year, which symbolises the New Year of good health and good luck.
Awarding the Outstanding Students at the End of the Year
The Residence Hall award ceremony is one of the school's annual New Year traditions. Primary and Secondary sections each received ten prizes, and ten winners and 20 nominees were selected from each floor. They received certificates and gifts to encourage their excellent performance.
The SLT team of YWIES Shanghai Lingang sent their best wishes to all the students for the New Year. We believe that by 2020, the children will grow fast in Yew Wah.
Fabulous Show from East and West
What was the most eye-catching show of the night? The magic show! As the children watched carefully, at a turn of the hand, a white dove would spread its wings out and the torn newspaper could go back to the original. The children could not help but surge to the front of the stage to watch as the dexterous hands of the magician weaved endless imagination for them.
Through passionate piano music, energetic rap, and beautiful solos, the Lower Secondary students freely showed off their brilliant youth, receiving rapturous applause from the audience.
The last performance was the fashion show by students and teachers. The SLT and Residence Hall Teachers held the hands of the children on the runway to show off their charm, and the senior students rushed to the front of the runway to be "fans" calling their teacher's name. At this moment, the friendship between teachers and students was evident.
Conclusion:
The New Year's Celebration of each year means students are a step closer to graduation. In this party, the Residence Hall Teachers and children created unforgettable and happy memories together. In 2019, we have harvested many achievements of growth at Yew Wah. In 2020, the year of the lucky mouse, we hope we can live up to yesterday's hard work and usher in a proud future.
